Peter Sellers - The Party

This is a visual footnote to my interview with Sarah Sellers, Peter Sellers' daughter. She hosted a VIP Press Party in Beauchamp Place on Tuesday October 27 to launch the exhibition -- Peter Sellers -- Behind The Camera (on til Nov 1). The snug white-walled pop-up gallery was a perfect venue for the mainly black and white photos. All very White Cube chic and a world away from the technicolor of the original Peter Sellers Movie -- The Party, in which he plays a gauche outsider among the beautiful people.

Resisting the temptation to utter the Sellers' character's immortal greeting "Howdy Partner" to the celeb guests, I grabbed myself a glass of wine and enjoyed the views. I did do a pap on Sinitta, who obliged by posing and pointing at a photo. But, I freely admit, the ones taken below by the photographer David Parry/PA are heaps better.

The photography curator Terence Pepper was at the do too. As he isn't as recognisable as say, Jeremy Irons or Neil Pearson (both pictured below), I missed my chance to quiz him on the recent Audrey Hepburn exhibition at the National Portrait Gallery he worked on. Another time, another photo opportunity, perhaps...
